The Rev. Stephanie Kendell is the Senior Minister and President of National City Christian Church in Washington, DC and is the first woman to hold both of these positions. She graduated with a Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity School with an additional  certificate in History, Theology, and Ethics, was the 2017 Zondervan Academic award recipient for Advanced Theology, is a Duke Divinity and Lily Endowment Grant recipient, and is a current Doctoral student at

Drew Theological under Dr. Catherine Keller. Ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Rev. Stephanie is the current First-Vice Moderator of the denomination.

Rev. Stephanie is passionate about justice seeking ministries that

aid in the value and understanding of intersectional perspectives. Her ministries are rooted in both prayer and action, and you can find her online and in the community seeking justice for all of God's creation. She loves casting big vision for her communities and helping them live into that vision in biblically based, creative, just, and financially responsible and sustainable ways.

 

Her writing has been published in both books and online publications.

Her work focuses on centering marginalized communities within

scripture and has captured audiences around the globe. Rev. Stephanie

is a co-host of the Disciples #1 podcast and live-chat show on theology and pop-culture called the"Two On One Project." She is also a member of the Bethany Fellows, Macedonian Ministries, and Duke Divinity's Seek the Welfare program. In 2018, Rev. Stephanie also co-founded Beloved and Proud an Interfaith Pride collaborative.

Rev. Stephanie is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area       where she continues to be an avid supporter of the local       sports teams as well as a fan of the USWNT.                             She holds a degree in Musical Theater and Theater Arts 

from the University of Redlands. She is a Past Matron in         the Order of the Eastern Star. Before her call to Ordained       ministry, Rev. Stephanie was a Producer and Operations       Manager for an international theatrical marketing agency       based in Los Angeles.

 

Rev. Stephanie is a proud Auntie who loves to travel,

be on the river with her family, is an Bruce Springsteen fan, and currently lives in Washington, DC with her cats Physics and

The Funk.
